I studied environmental engineering and automation, I love hardware tinkering and building robots. I'm a member of Collective Open Source Hardware, a Hamburg based interdisciplinary group which aims to spread the open source idea by creating open source hardware projects. We also want to bring the open source concept to universities and promote it further because we think there is a huge possibility for both students and faculty to benefit from open educational resources. We started an OER (open educational resource) for building a solar box from scratch using mostly open source tools and components. Our OER approach aims to empower any interested person to build the solar box, especially users that have little hardware experience or no background in engineering.

Both knowledge and energy should be free and achievable.
