Thomas Hervé Mboa Nkoudou is a Cameroonian PhD student in Public Communication at Université Laval (Canada). With a background in Biochemistry, he is Biology teacher for secondary school (graduate of the Higher Teacher Training College of Yaoundé) and Didactician of sciences (master of the Faculty of Sciences of education of Université Laval).

Thomas is interested in Open Science and Digital Humanities. His involvement in SOHA Project allowed him to work on the the concept of cognitive justice  and to take a critical look at digital technologies as a powerful tool of emancipation and empowerment for the Global South; but also recognizes that they can be vectors of domination and colonization. That is the reason why he is involved in many events like 1) the Tech4Dev 2018:Voices of the Global South where he is co-chair of the panel on: “Open science: an opportunity for the global south?” 2) the Africa Open Science & Hardware Summit in Ghana from 13 to 15 April 2018; 3) the past seminar on Biohacking in Medical Field: opportunities for Africa and so on.  Also, Thomas has written papers on digital technology & local knowledge, The Maker movement, Open access, cognitive justice, etc..and made major presentations at MIT, OpenCon, UN, etc.
