Kurzthese
Beschreibung
This session will be held in German and will be translated into English.
Criticism & Reforms Everywhere: rebooting Public Service Broadcasting
In their referendum on 04 March, the Swiss voted clearly for the preservation of public service broadcasting. But Denmark's parliament decided a 20% budget cut for public service broadcasting. In Poland the political sphere has secured extensive influence on public service broadcasting. Far-reaching reforms have also taken place in past years in Sweden, England and Finland. The whole of Europe is currently discussing the public service system and the positions are usually similar – obsolete structures, high costs and a crisis of credibility on the one side, faced with guaranteeing diversity, quality journalism and public value on the other. Which are the responses our neighbours have found? Which importance does public service broadcasting assume in a changing media climate? What does modern public service broadcasting actually look like? How far does the will to reform extend? What will public service broadcasting represent in the future?
