As creators of future digital society, kids are more than welcome at re:publica! Here’s to another year of crafting, playing, coding, and puzzling.

Entry is free of charge for all young guests up to 15 years of age (please bring ID for proof of age!) We’ll be setting up colorful playgrounds and downtime areas for exhausted kids (and parents.) Young and old folks can let loose during our Kids Sessions at the GIG Makerspace or Kidspace. Teenagers surely already discovered the TINCON. There will be plenty of sessions during re:learn and in the overall re:publica programme where kids and their parents can and should speak up — and don’t worry, of course there’ll be a ball pit.

Please find some practical information about the Kidspace on this seperate page.

We will be creating our own bubble soap and making different sized bubble blowing tools from straws to large wands. We will be testing to see how big we can make our bubbles before they pop and using our craft skills to see if we can make geometric shapes for bubbles. In this activity we will be observing light refraction, learning about shapes and testing different materials for best results.

For our take home craft, you can make your own bubble painting.

Helfen uns Roboter bei unseren täglichen Arbeiten oder können sie auch tanzen, spielen oder wettlaufen? Das erproben wir mit Kindern von 6-9 Jahren in unserem Workshop RoboRace mit Ozobot.

You know them, you love them. Drawbots are those quirky little robots that drive around aimlessly humming and drawing lovely pictures. They are easy to make, always fun and on the way building them, you can learn something about most basic electric circuits, motion and robotics. This is how we understand “making“: Share knowledge with others, create things together, hack them, change them, make them your own and in the end – share again! Be it for the fun of the activity or to solve a problem. Everyone involved can learn how to take action and just do things. Fixing and making stuff fosters the spirit of empowerment and change. We want to experience that spirit with you. You can do it, so do not be afraid!
