Hear How You Like To Hear

Short thesis

In the workshop »Hear How You Like To Hear« you are testing prototypes of »Hearables« (portable hearing aids) together with the Fraunhofer IDMT from Oldenburg.

Description

Within the "Hear How You Like to Hear" project, citizens are working on the next generation of hearing aids, hearables etc. In workshops and hackathons, the Fraunhofer IDMT in Oldenburg and makers use simple technical means to test individualised everyday solutions for better hearing.

In the workshop you adjust our prototype test devices to your personal requirements. We will provide the open source hearing aid prototype openMHA and a microphone array.

Our research questions include:

  • How could hearables (portable hearing supports) for self-determined hearing SOUND?
  • How could hearables for self-determined hearing FEEL?
  • How could hearables for self-determined hearing LOOK?

Prior notice:
We point to our Hearable hackathon on 6 and 7 July 2018 in Fab Lab Berlin. At this two-day event, mixed teams will join forces to develop ideas for designs, materials and user interfaces for hearables. The sky’s the limit as far as imagination is concerned: Whether new design concepts are based on modern headsets, futuristic antennae or historical hearing aids is left to the participants.
