Netzfest

Inclusive, outdoors, free-of-charge : on May 5 we celebrate the first digital community festival at Park am Gleisdreieck

With the End of this years re:publica, the “Netzfest” will take place for the first time. Look forward to a diverse program for the whole family in the heart of the park. Experience the net with workshops, exciting talks about digital topics, live music and much more.

It all starts on Saturday at 10 am. Mariella Hettich prepares you for a day, that combines the online- and offline-world und tells you how to instagram. Viktor Schlüter und Sofia Faltenbacher explain why privacy is important and offer a critical understanding on mass surveillance and data companies.

Everybody talks about cryptocurrencies, but what is behind all this and what do we have to expect in the future? This is something the 16-year-old Kolja Richter speaks about. He is not the only young expert at Netzfest. The TINCON-Stage is a place for young people to discuss topics, they are really concerned of.

To talk about the net is one thing, but to form the net in the future needs technical know how. Therefore, learning it as a child is the best that can happen: At a workshop with Kerstin und Neele Butenhoff Kids have the opportunity to learn how to program.

The Deutsches Technikmuseum is a partner of Netzfest. According to that, visitors of Netzfest do have free entry at the exhibition “Das Netz” from 10 am to 6 pm on this day. Further  information can be found at the museum’s booth at Netzfest. Surprises are waiting for you at the net exhibition: the dancing robot NAO, a 3D printer in action, guided tours by the curators and many more.

What also belongs to an authentic festival and won’t be missed at Netzfest: a tasty gastronomic offer and live music from 6 pm on. The Berliner Kneipenchor (in englisch: Berlin Bar Choir) will be the opener.
