Wolfgang Gruel
Professor and Co-Director

Wolfgang is a professor at the Stuttgart Media University. He is passionate about digital innovation and mobility. His work focuses on creating more sustainable mobility systems that make use of new technologies and change the way we travel. Wolfgang has worked on shared autonomous mobility systems as Head of Autonomous Mobility Services at car2go, and as a researcher at the MIT Media Lab.

Prior to that, he worked as a manager in Daimler’s Business Innovation unit – a team designated to the goal of fostering entrepreneurship within the company and evolving innovative ideas to emerging businesses. There, he initiated moovel, a mobility platform that offers customers the best options for traveling from point A to point B by combining diverse modes of transportation.

As an entrepreneur, Wolfgang founded several companies. He holds a Ph.D. in Innovation Management from RWTH Aachen University, a Master’s Degree in Information Systems, and graduated in Business Administration.
