Kurzthese

The EAMLab is a short term media residency program and focuses on networking and collaboration amongst young professionals and innovators. The initiative is aimed at introducing new formats of collaboration between African media centres and local media professionals and to promote constructive and peaceful media work. This session provides an overview of diverse ideas and projects the fellows developed and realised in 2017 and gives an entertaining outlook of the upcoming activities in 2018 of the program in Africa and South-East_Asia.

Beschreibung

The EAMLab 2017 was aimed at introducing new formats of collaboration between African media centres and local media professionals and to promote constructive and peaceful media work. The participants of this program are supported to advance their professionalization and to introduce their own interests and
backgrounds into new contexts and locations. The EAMLab is focused on peer-learning and open and free media technologies. In this context, participants and their host organizations are encouraged to approach issues of media, peace, art and culture in creative, experimental and interdisciplinary ways through digital means. The critical and reflective examination of political and social challenges is of particular interest to the EAMLab. Thus, creative discourse and sensitive exchange of ideas and perspectives is at the center of the collaboration work. The promotion of peace and dialogue is inseparable from media and technology
in the work of the EAMLab.

In 2018 we will open up the program to some regions in South-East-Asia and will focus on a south-south exchange. For the upcoming project of the South-South-MediaLab Collaboration (SSMLab) we focus on examples and actions in the field of rural-urban collaboration and peace building.

The EAMLab is designed and implemented by icebauhaus (Germany) and iceaddis (Ethiopia) and supported by funding from the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
