Bastian works as a research associate and project manager at the European Democracy Lab in Berlin. The Lab's mission is to promote the European common good beyond the nation-state and develop a transnational paradigm that allows to explore alternative conceptions of the European polity. It does so by conducting scientific research, advocate through various channels and initiate cultural projects that aim to encourage alternative discourses on Europe. Bastian previously campaigned for the Social Democratic Party in Germany and worked with United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and the African Rural Development Movement (ARUDMO).
